July 23: His Love

Everywhere we turn today we seem to be experiencing turmoil, ungratefulness, and negativity. I must admit that, if I read too much, listen too much, or watch too much news or social media, I can become very negative.  We could become ungrateful and forget that God is always faithful and that His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1-26 should be required reading for all believers today. It was difficult to study through the passage without pausing every few minutes to praise God for His love and faithfulness. We have so much for which to be grateful. I pray that this week's study will motivate you and your group to remain grateful for all God has done for those who follow Him!

As I began working through the study, I quickly realized that I just couldn't read this passage in segments. There needs to be an entire reading of the passage before dividing into the various segments for study. I have suggested in the teaching ideas that you lead the group to read the passage responsively first.

The following video could be used as an option to the responsive reading:

JESUS IS VICTORIOUS - HIS FAITHFUL LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!
As you progress through the passages, consider using the following verses as a responsive reading to remind your group of how we should celebrate God's victory and deliverance today. The group should say, His faithful love endures forever, after each passage is read. Consider celebrating and praising God yourself as you read through the following passages from the Christian Standard Bible translation right now!
  • Romans 8:37 – No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
  • Romans 6:14 – For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law but under grace.
  • Romans 8:1-2 – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
  • 1 John 5:4 – Everyone who has been born of God conquers the world.
  • John 16:33 –Be courageous! I [Jesus] have conquered the world.
  • Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who is against us?
  • 1 Corinthians 15:55 – Where, death, is your victory? Where, death, is your sting?
  • 1 Corinthians 15:57 – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
  • 2 Corinthians 2:14 – But thanks be to God, who always leads us in Christ’s triumphal procession and through us spreads the aroma of the knowledge of him in every place. For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
Get ready to celebrate Sunday with your group!
