Easter Sunday Helps and Announcements

Announcements

Incredible Opportunity this Sunday!
This is the first time in several years that we have been able to accommodate Connect Groups on Easter Sunday. I am personally very excited about the possibilities this provides us to build or reestablish relationships with others while learning together about the wonderful truths of Jesus' resurrection.

Here are some things you can do to get ready for this Sunday:
  • Pray - For your group to participate in inviting people to and attending Connect Groups.
  • Pray - That we will get to see the Holy Spirit work by changing lives.
  • Pray - That the Scriptures will be used to help people who are searching to understand their need for a Savior and believers to reaffirm their faith.
  • Remind your group about the room changes.
Remember also our Spring Toward Easter emphasis ends this Sunday. Who will be served a meal the following week?

Bible Study Helps
We know that Easter is much more than family gatherings, Easter egg hunts, and displaying new clothes. It is a celebration of Jesus' sacrificial death and victorious resurrection. This week, while watching TV,  I was reminded of how much emphasis is placed on everything about Easter other than Christ's resurrection. One commercial heavily emphasized dressing up in new clothes, gathering with family, eating together, and hunting Easter eggs. I pray our study will be used to refocus our Easter on the amazing way God provided salvation through the death and resurrection of His Son. While people may gather at church for different reasons I pray they will leave amazed by the resurrection!

I have tweaked the Target and the Teaching Outline to bring what I feel is a better focus on the biblical text for this Sunday. I have also provided several illustration for you to consider using as a part of the plan. Below is a summary of the approach I have taken:

Target: Your goal is to help adults realize the amazing truth found in Jesus’ death and resurrection. They should be able to identify why His death and resurrection is so amazing to them.

LOOK IN Outline:
  1. We Should be Amazed that he Willingly Sacrificed Himself for Us
  2. Realizing Jesus is God's Son Should Amaze Us
  3. Knowing Jesus is Risen from the Dead Should Amaze Us
