April 12: A Refined People

We have received an inheritance as followers of Christ who were purified by “fire” when Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. When Jesus faced the impending painful path to the cross, He prayed in the garden, “Not my will but thine be done” (Mark 14:36). He knew the path would be painful, but the outcome would be a pure and final sacrifice for the sins of man! He was willing to “go through the fire” for us! This is where we begin our focus this week as we study Zechariah 13:1-9 and learn what it means two be a refined people.

I have provided a PowerPoint that can be used to supplement your group discussion.

Lead your group to understand and celebrate the fact that Jesus' sacrifice produced for us an inheritance that is imperishable, incorruptible, and unfading. It is kept for us in Heaven. But, as long as we live here on this earth, we will go through various trials, and just as fire purifies gold, so our faith will be purified.
