In our study today of 1 John 1:5–2:6, John references “light” in comparison with God. The focus of the study will be comparing those who walk in the light of Christ with those who walk in darkness. John “sheds light” on the false teaching and points his readers to the True Light by providing two examples of what Gnostics of his day were falsely teaching. The study concludes with John providing insight into what it truly means to walk in the light.
The following video could be used to introduce the theme of walking in the light. I have also provided an object suggestion in the teaching helps.
Whether you use the teaching helps or not, I pray your Explore the Bible study of 1 John 1:5-2:6 will provide you and your group with some great opportunities to evaluate your personal walk with Christ and some ideas on how to avoid the false teachings of today.
