- Room Supply Totes: We are working to redo all the totes so each group will be able to locate their supplies. I suggest you clean out your tote of items you are no longer using. We should have totes organized and provided for each group by the end of next week.
- Encourage Missionaries: We still have adults looking at classes at various hours. Please encourage adults to continue to pray about being missionaries by becoming a part of the 6:30 Connect Groups or some of our classes that don't have many attending. We especially need two or three couples to consider helping Eddie Bash begin his coed class.
- Prayer Requests: Pray for our Student Ministry Climb Weekend, January 30-February 2. Pray for the Women's ministry special studies that begin Monday, January 27th.
- Fellowship/Outreach Opportunity: Consider using Northside Night at MTSU Basketball on Saturday night, February 1 as an opportunity to do something with your group. Invite your guests to attend with you.
BIBLE STUDY HELPS
As part of fulfilling God’s plan to forgive sinners, Jesus the Messiah willingly bore abuse by others, including being betrayed, denied, and reviled. We are now turning our attention to the sufferings and sacrifice of Christ as we focus on chapter 18. It begins to tell the story of one of the most brutal examples of abuse one person could ever experience. Yet His suffering would not be in vain. It was so that salvation could be provided to all who believe.
I have modified the study to focus on Jesus willingly and knowingly facing abuse in order to fulfill His plan of salvation. The LOOK UP and the LOOK OUT suggestions use an illustration related to United States Medal of Honor recipients to help your group understand the honor that is due Jesus for His willingness to face the abuse He experienced on our behalf.
I have also modified the TARGET to help bring focus to your application of the study:
The target is to help adults identify actions to avoid that might mirror the abuse Jesus was given and to determine ways they can honor Jesus by the way they respond to abuse for living their faith.
